“Our teachers at Brookridge Day School in Overland Park, KS are degreed and specialize in the development of gross and fine motor skills.”

Preschool Fun.

Preschool

Brookridge Day School’s preschool program is designed for children between three and five years of age. Their days are filled with opportunities to develop a positive self-concept while growing academically, socially and emotionally. Our program places an emphasis on refining gross and fine motor skills along with developing social skills through cooperative play. Our classrooms are equipped with state of the art educational technology to prepare our students for “The Class Room of the Future”. Our academics enhance language skills, while also promoting pre-reading and math readiness.  Both music and art appreciation allow the students to develop individual interests that go beyond what other schools offer. Preschoolers want to experience and explore every sensation the world has to offer.  Our preschool program is designed  to fulfill this need and to create an environment that promotes learning without sacrificing the nurturing, loving care which every child needs to succeed.

Lunch and snacks are included in the price of full-time tuition.

Pre-Kindergarten

Brookridge Day School also offers a pre-kindergarten program for children four, turning five. This program is highly academic focusing on reading readiness, writing, science, math and art. Through educational activities, your child will develop the skills needed to print words, write sentences and read. We do not limit ourselves to any one specific teaching approach, but instead, tailor the educational experience to each child. Our “Class Room of the Future” allows us to utilize technology to enrich our curriculum. Our focus remains on developing the whole child, not only academically, but emotionally and socially as well.

Lunch and snacks are included in the price of full time tuition.

Part-time Preschool

Our part-time preschool meets from 8:45 to 11:45am. There are two separate classes: the three-year-olds meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and the four-year-olds meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The Tuesday-Thursday class focuses on developing social skills by learning to play alone, side-by-side and in cooperative groups. Foundational skills in math, reading readiness and language are taught through developmental rotations. Our Monday-Wednesday-Friday program is more academic in nature. With an academic foundation laid in the three-year-old class, your child will further explore and deepen previously taught concepts. Our curricula broaden the scope in language, math, and reading readiness. Lots of opportunities are offered to further the child’s growth in self-esteem through interaction with classmates and teachers. Through our music program in both classes, your child will learn performance techniques and skills while learning to appreciate music and the arts.
