The 3 and 4 year old children are really enjoying their Recycling Unit in Room 5!
They worked hard with Mrs. McCarthy on a science project to make recycled paper out of paper that came from a shredding machine. They used water, shredded paper, a blender, and a screen to make the shredded pieces whole again. Once the paper was dry, they made leaves out of the paper to add to their recycled tree. For a fun art project, they all worked with Mrs. McCarthy to add pieces of recyclables that they brought from home and make it into a beautiful work of art; recycled tree art! They students were so proud and excited about their work that they couldn’t wait for their parents to pick them up from school so that they could show it to them!
Another fun recycling themed project the Room 5 kiddos worked on was making their very own recycled men (and women) out of old magazines and newspapers that they had brought from home. The students had to use their fine motor skills to tear, cut, and glue the paper as well as use their imagination to create their paper characters. They really enjoyed doing this project and it was fun to see the final product!
The Room 5 students also learned about and celebrated Earth Day to continue their Recycling Unit! Tune in to see what fun project or activity they might do next!
