Fall faves in Kansas City: Renaissance Festival and Louisburg Cider Mill!

Fall is my favorite time of year.  The colors of the falling leaves, the crispness in the air and the cool nights remind all of us to enjoy this beautiful season as winter will be setting in soon.

Fall is a great time to experience one of my favorite places, Louisburg Cider Mill. Your kids can eat their fill of the yummy apple cider donuts while washing it all down with their delicious apple cider.  I like to have the apple cider slushies and take joy in meandering around the General Store, finding spices, soup mixes, nuts and all manner of trinkets that make me smile!

Another fun activity for the whole family is the Renaissance Festival.  I have been going to the Ren Fest since 1977 and I delight in leaving the present and stepping back in time.  The festival has many free performances such as jugglers, comedians, magicians, singers, and even belly dancers!  It is fun to converse with the costumed characters roaming about and verbally spar with the Gypsies.  You can go to the festival in costume, if you dare, or purchase a lovely chapeau for your favorite Prince or Princess.

Where else can you participate in a jousting match, delight in the music of a hammered dulcimer, curtsey at the Queen, slay fierce dragons and gnaw on a turkey leg all in one day?  If this sounds like something you may be interested in, I strongly recommend that you wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing a bit of hiking while you are there.

Here’s wishing you a joyful fall season.  Huzzah!
