At-Home Supplemental Ideas
Room 5 is taking full advantage of “Tasty Tuesdays!” Each week the teachers try to come up with a fun treat for the classroom to make matching whatever the theme is that particular week.
So far, the kiddos have enjoyed making pigs in a blanket during our party pig bounce house week, and trail mix, fruit salsa and shark jello during our ocean week.
All of these snacks have been simple and easy to make, but most importantly, exciting for the kids and delicious snacks for all!
Here are a couple of quick and fun recipes you can try at home with your child:
Pigs in a Blanket
*to serve 8, need 8 hot dogs, 8 slices cheese, roll of 8 refrigerated biscuits
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Wrap a slice of cheese around a frankfurter then a rolled biscuit around that.
- Put on cookie sheet with the biscuit seam face down, so you don’t have to use tooth picks.
- Bake in preheated oven until biscuits are brown, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Children’s Trail Mix
- One cup of goldfish
- One cup of pretzles
- One cup of m&ms
- One cup of cheerios
- One cup of marshmallows
* Mix in a large bowl
