Dear Brookridge Families After more than 50 years at Brookridge Day School, our beloved principal, Mrs. Barbara Brown will retire at the end of the school year. Mrs. Brown joined the Brookridge Family in the early 70’s as a junior, then as a teacher before taking over as Principal in 2003. During her tenure at Brookridge, Mrs. Brown has lived and worked the mission of our school. She has helped shape an environment that fosters personal growth while instilling a love of learning in both our children, families and staff. One of the greatest testaments to Mrs. Brown’s work, is the steady flow of Brookridge alumni enrolling their children at Brookridge Day School. Under her tutelage, our school has received national recognition as one of the best private schools in the nation. Mrs. Brown will pass the torch to our wonderful 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Katie Shonkwiler. Mrs. Shonkwiler has acted as Vice-Principal alongside Mrs. Brown for the past five years. She will continue our vision to improve, innovate and enrich our program to ensure that we serve our students in the best possible way for many years to come. Together with our talented staff, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Shonkwiler will work together for a seamless transition for our students and our community. On behalf of our Brookridge Families, Teachers and Dr. Savage, please join me in saying “Thank You” to our wonderful Principal, Mrs. Brown and “Good Luck” as she embraces the joys of retirement. Thank you Mia and Rod
